Snes Emulator Continues to Scroll and Wont Respond to Remote

Note
  • The model number for the Super NES Classic Controller is CLV-202.
  • Controller Port No.1 on the Super NES Classic Edition is the one on the left side while Port No. 2 is the one on the right side.

What to do

  1. Verify that you are using a compatible controller.
    • If you are using an accessory that is not supported for this console, replacing it with a compatible controller may resolve the issue.
  2. If a compatible controller is not responding while being plugged into Port No. 2, ensure that the game is compatible with 2-player options.
    • In order to navigate the HOME Menu, the controller must be plugged into Port No. 1.
    • Port No. 2 can be used only for a second player while in 2-player games.
  3. If the issue persists, slide the Power switch OFF.

The Power LED unlit and the power switch in its off position indicating the power is off on the Super NES Classic Edition

  4. Unplug the controller by pressing the tabs on the connector that goes into the console.
  5. Check the controller's cord for any signs of physical damage; i.e. frayed cable, nicks, kinks, etc.
    • If any damage is present, the controller will need to be replaced.
  6. Check the serial number on the bottom of the console.
  1. Important
    • We have found that there may be issues that can be caused by using an underpowered AC adapter or power source; the Power LED may be lit, but the controller may not respond correctly.
    • If you are powering up the Super NES Classic Edition using an after-market AC adapter, a TV, or other device, use the original AC adapter that came with the console.
    1. Plug the USB cable into the back of the console and the original AC adapter that came in the box (model No. CLV-003) into a wall outlet.
      • If the original AC adapter is no longer available, you can purchase one from the My Nintendo Store.

    2. Plug into the back of the console the original HDMI cable that came in the box and then into an HDMI port on the TV or monitor.
      • Ensure the HDMI connectors are pushed in all the way and are not loose.
      • If you have verified that the original HDMI cable works on your console, and you later want to use a different cable, ensure it does not exceed 10 ft in length.
    3. Plug one of the Super NES Classic Controllers into Port No. 1 on the front of the console and power it on. Then try navigating the HOME Menu or try starting a game.
      • If a controller button is not responding with a specific game, consult the online game manuals and verify that the intended button is compatible with that game.
      • If the controller is not responding altogether or is responding incorrectly, test the second controller that came with the console. Ensure it is plugged into Port No. 1.
    4. If an incorrect response is occuring with both controllers, try connecting the AC adapter into a different wall outlet.
    Important
    • You have a console that was intended to be sold in another region.
    • Only consoles sold in the Americas will include an AC adapter.
    • If you have a console that was intended for another region, and it included an AC adapter, it is very likely an unlicensed accessory.
    • We have found that these issues can be caused by using an underpowered AC adapter or power source; the console may power up, but the controller(s) may not respond correctly.
    • The problem can be resolved by using a licensed AC adapter. You can purchase one from the My Nintendo Store.
    • You can also try using a different AC adapter that is rated as 5V/1A.
    • If you haven't done so already, we strongly recommend testing the system on a different TV or monitor.
  2. If this information resolved your issue, then you're all set! For information about Nintendo's products, be sure to check out Nintendo's website for all the latest news.

    • If the second controller works correctly with the system, then the non-working controller will need to be replaced.
    • If neither controller is responding correctly, even after plugging the original AC adapter into a different wall outlet, then there is likely an issue with the console.
